Historia escocesa y William Wallace

El Monumento Nacional Wallace es un destacado hito en Stirling, Escocia, dedicado al héroe nacional escocés Sir William Wallace. Se encuentra en el Abbey Craig, una colina que ofrece una amplia vista de los alrededores. El monumento fue construido en el siglo XIX para recordar la contribución de Wallace al movimiento de independencia escocés.

En Glasgow no hay un gran Monumento Wallace como en Stirling. Sin embargo, en el barrio de Robroyston hay un pequeño monumento que recuerda la captura de William Wallace en 1305. En este lugar, Wallace fue capturado por soldados ingleses antes de ser llevado a Londres y ejecutado. El monumento en Robroyston consta de una cruz celta y una placa conmemorativa que recuerda este evento histórico.

Dedicated site to where William Wallace was captured in 1305 After being betrayed, he was dragged off to Dumbarton Castle, where arrangements were made for his transportation to London were made According to legend, he was chained to tree at port Glasgow before being moved south

Sadly I couldn’t get up to it in my wheelchair but could see the monument from the road. It’s free to visit and no ticket buying is necessary.

Never knew this was on my doorstep. There is a small parking area next to it and its within walking distance to the walace well. You can visit both sites in one day. The monument is in great condition.
